Controstoria dell'Arte

Author(s): Pablo Echaurren
Date: 2011
Description:
Often we look at a painting, a sculpture, an architecture, without seeing, without understanding, without participation. Grasping the meaning of a work and framing it in the context in which it was generated is not easy, but it is not even Superman stuff with the x-ray super-view. It is enough to remove the blinders of a discounted, superficial, banal criticism. Repeated to boredom. And think for yourself without letting yourself be conditioned by the judgment of others. Here, briefly, the traditional point of view is overturned: themes and styles are faced from a particular angle, personal, irreverent, but not for this spacing in the air. From the caves of Lascaux to street art, passing through the Renaissance and Impressionism, as a rule the masterpieces are endured by the spectator, obliged to follow the scholars who establish the rules of the game. This handbook is a first step to regaining possession of the art without being crushed by the weight of the culture lowered from above, suffocating and pedantic.
