Postproduction

Author(s): Nicolas Bourriaud
Date: 2004
Description:
Current artists evolve in a universe of products for sale, pre-existing forms, signals already issued, buildings already built, routes marked by their predecessors. They no longer consider the artistic field as a museum containing works that should be quoted or "exceeded", as the modernist ideology of the new would like, but as so many stores filled with tools to use, stocks of data to manipulate, replay and stage. This edition is the French version of "Postproduction", published in English in 2001 by Lukas & Sternberg. From the same author, Presses du réel: Aesthetics relational.Nicolas Bourriaud was born in 1965. Curator, writer, theorist and art critic, he co-directed with Jérôme Sans the Palais de Tokyo in Paris from 2002 to 2006.
