L'Art à l'état vif : La pensée pragmatiste et l'esthétique populaire

Date: 1992
Description:
The art in the lively state was published by Editions de Minuit in January 1992, proposing a new pragmatist aesthetic theory where, alongside a poem by TS Eliot, paradoxically and forcefully asserted forms of culture. popular, such as rap, graph, funk or breakdance. The book made a great noise and made it possible to meet aesthetics that might have been thought to be foreign to each other, but which were in fact found in an open artistic practice and in a conception of art as "art de vivre" . The body also took center stage in this book, announcing what would become the theme of Shusterman's upcoming work: the somaesthetic, a discipline he developed later in several works, including Body Consciousness (L'éclat, 2007). Twenty-six years later, the book reappears in its pocket, enriched with new prefaces and an appendix that reflect the progress made.
