Description:
Street art is probably one of the most controversial art forms of our time. It takes place on the street, far away from all exhibition halls and on the edge of legality. Nevertheless, or maybe because of that, it fascinates and develops into a field of art that is increasingly gaining in attention. Anonymous, provocative and unacademic are the sprayed or glued pictures, which can be found in large cities, on house walls or train cars. They often, but not always, address political protest and at the same time represent an attempt to bring some poetry to our cities. This book shows in over 250 pictures and explanatory texts the range of artistic expressions of graffiti. Theme pages highlight special aspects like The Magic of the Name, Hip Hop or Street Art Vs. Globalization. An ideal overview for anyone who wants to learn more about this elementary and belligerent art form.
