Artivisme : art, action politique et résistance culturelle

Date: 2010
Related collection(s): Le Grand Jeu Documentation Center
Description:
Artivism is the art of militant artists. It is sometimes art without artists but with activists. Art committed and engaging, he seeks to mobilize the viewer, to get out of his supposed inertia, to make him take a stand. It is the insurgent art of the Zapatistas, the community art of the muralists, the resistant and furious art of the queer feminists, the festive art of the collectives decided to re-enchant the life, it is the utopian art of the hackers of the Net (hacktivists of a teakno-political guerilla), it is the aesthetic resistance to the publicity, the privatization of the public space. In this galaxy, we find JR, Zevs, the Yes Men, the Guerilla Girls, Critical art together, Reclaim the Streets, Steven Cohen, Reverend Billy, etc. On almost 200 well-illustrated pages, Artivisme draws up an inventory of contemporary practices of radical art.
